The careers of Rosalia Rothansl (1870–1945) and Mileva Stoisavljevic-Roller (1886–1949) exemplify the professionalization of female artists, following the opening of the former Vienna School of Arts and Crafts to women and its modernist artistic direction in the early 20th century.
